SILVERLIGHT: USER INTERFACE DEVELOPMENT FRAMEWORK
Initially, Silverlight was introduced to the market as a development framework for web applications, to deliver media rich content, designed to run inside a web browser with the required plug-in installed.
Although Silverlight technology is still generally known as a development framework for web applications that runs within a browser, Silverlight version 3 and later support out-of-browser applications. As Silverlight evolves, this technology is being adopted to support other platforms, including Linux, Mac OS, the latest Windows Phone 7 mobile platform, and Windows Embedded Compact.
