PREREQUISITES AND PREPARATION

As part of the process to develop a native code application from the Platform Builder IDE, as a subproject to an OS design, the application is compiled as part of the OS run-time image. To support the Platform Builder native code application exercises in this chapter using a Virtual PC machine (VM) as the target device, you need to create an OS run-time image for the VM. To complete the exercises in this chapter, you need to have the following:

  • A VM configured with an appropriate bootloader to establish connectivity to the Platform Builder development station and download a Compact 7 OS run-time image.
  • Both the development station and VM are attached to the same Local Area Network, with DHCP service to provide an IP address dynamically. Or configure the development station and VM each with different IP addresses within the same subnet.
