USING REMOTE DISPLAY APPLICATION ON HEADLESS DEVICE

Working with a headless Compact 7 device, a device built without user interface, you can use the Remote Display application to access the Compact 7 desktop on device remotely, which is a useful development tool.

Using similar steps as the previous exercises in this chapter, you can configure the OS design, created to support a headless target device, to include the Remote Display application and enable access to the device’s desktop remotely using the Platform Builder CE Remote Display Host application, CERHOST.EXE, from the development station.

Although a headless Compact 7 device does not have video display hardware, the headless Compact 7 OS run-time image for the device requires the NULL (Stub) display driver to function, like a virtual display.
