SUMMARY
An abundance of embedded hardware is available, built with different features, for differing purposes. The technology landscape is evolving rapidly with new creations that can replicate existing technology with better features and more efficient use of energy at a lower cost.
Technology is expected to change rapidly. Just think about the mobile phone, gaming console, and portable media player in the market today, 3 years ago, and 5 years ago.
When selecting a hardware platform for an embedded development project, keep an open mind and chose a proper hardware platform based on an engineering perspective and not corporate culture.
