Chapter 19

Platform Builder Native Code Application Example

WHAT’S IN THIS CHAPTER?

  • Developing a native code application with Platform Builder
  • Debugging a Platform Builder subproject native code application

You can develop a Windows Embedded Compact 7 native code application as a VS2008 smart device application project or as a Platform Builder subproject to an OS design project.

As a subproject to the OS design, you can configure a Platform Builder native code application to compile as part of the OS run-time image. The development and debugging environment for a Platform Builder native code project is different from a VS2008 smart device native code project.

This chapter works through the exercises showing the steps to develop a native code application, as a subproject to the OS design, from the Platform Builder IDE, and deploy the application to a Windows Embedded Compact 7 target device for testing and debugging using a virtual machine as the target device.
