Chapter 6. Incorporating Your Process Using Microsoft Solutions Framework

The Microsoft Solutions Framework (MSF) is a scalable, flexible framework incorporating Microsoft's software development principles, practices, and experience. The guidance that is included in MSF was gathered from a number of sources including Microsoft Consulting Service (MCS), partners and product groups. There are two process templates available in Team Foundation Server: MSF for Agile Software Development and MSF for CMMI Process Improvement. There has been some confusion as to the purpose of these templates and how they can be leveraged fully.

In this chapter, we provide an overview of these two process templates (and other processes that can be customized and integrated into Team System). We also look at the structure of a process template and learn how to customize it within an Agile scenario. Finally, you find out how to create process guidance that integrates nicely with Team System and techniques for deploying your customized design.
