6.4. Summary
The sample application described in this chapter is just one of the many different applications that can be created using the existing functionality of SharePoint. These applications will help SharePoint gain popularity in the organization by extending the rich collaboration already offered with organization specific needs, making teams more productive.
This chapter showed a simple, but quite powerful, use of the SharePoint object model and Visual Studio development environment in a real-world scenario. The most complicated aspect of SharePoint programming is learning how to navigate through the object model to find the information you need for your purposes. The best way to climb that learning curve is by building applications like the one shown here. 260
