Power View, a new feature of Reporting Services 2012, provides intuitive ad-hoc reporting for business users such as data analysts, business decision makers, and information workers. Power View is a browser-based Silverlight application launched from SharePoint Server 2010 that enables users to present and share insights with others in their organization through interactive presentations. Data becomes a lot more impactful when it comes from a well-understood, quality-assured source, is shared and available to the people who need it, and presented in a format that helps share and explore insights easily. This is what the self-service Microsoft BI platform is about, tightly integrated with Microsoft Office and SharePoint.
SharePoint facilitates building BI portals and dashboards that contain Reporting Services reports (both business and Power View reports), Excel Services reports, data-alerting capabilities over reports, and PerformancePoint Services for scorecards and management dashboards.
