11.7. Summary

To ensure a successful enterprise implementation of your Business Intelligence solutions, you need to have an efficient mechanism for delivering information through reports to end users. As such, reporting performance must be consistent and balanced.

Microsoft elected to take report execution options to the next level in SQL Server Reporting Services 2008 configured in SharePoint integrated mode by providing many functionalities such as subscriptions, report snapshots, and caching techniques. In this chapter, you learned how to use these functionalities rather than having users access the reports in an on-demand manner.

Most of the techniques discussed in this chapter have the advantage of being scheduled and run in the background, giving you greater control over when and where execution occurs. The goal is to enhance the performance of the report server and the user experience when viewing reports.
