Chapter 10. Displaying Your Reports in SharePoint Integrated Mode

As discussed earlier, Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services is a platform for building reporting solutions. Besides providing a wonderful report-processing engine and variety of development tools, this platform offers mechanisms for displaying reports to end users. When installed in SharePoint integrated mode, Reporting Services can integrate very well with SharePoint in the same way it integrates with any standard web application.

This chapter contains procedures for viewing reports from a SharePoint site. You will start with some of the out-of-the box functionalities such as the Report Viewer Web Part and out-of-the-box pages. Next, you will look at how to take things to the next level by combining SharePoint Web Parts and the Report Viewer Web Part. Later, toward the end of the chapter, you will dive into how you can extend out-of-the-box functionality to meet your report-delivery needs by displaying your reports the way you want. Remember, it's all about getting the best out of your investments in these two great products.
