7.6. Summary

This chapter focused exclusively on SharePoint Themes, showing why Themes are important, and in which situations they should be used. A comparison of Themes and Master Pages explained the need for each of these technologies to be used within SharePoint.

You looked at the Themes that come with SharePoint and saw how an existing Theme can be modified using the tools provided within SharePoint Designer. Lastly, a new Theme was produced and published back to the web server for re-use.

The main takeaways from this chapter are:

  • Themes serve a unique branding need within SharePoint. They can change colors, fonts, images, and more within a site.

  • Several out-of-the-box SharePoint Themes are available that a designer of the site can apply directly by using the browser.

  • Styles within a Theme can be easily discovered and changed, and new ones can be created using the tools provided within SharePoint Designer.

  • A new Theme can be easily created and published back to the web server.
