If you're reading this book, you likely already know that Joomla is becoming one of the most widely adopted new Web technologies. The Joomla Content Management System (CMS) provides an easy-to-use graphical user interface for Web site construction and maintenance. A novice Web user can quickly master the rudiments of Joomla and create a beautiful full-featured site, as shown in Figure 1-1, without knowing any Hypertext Markup Language (HTML).
