10 PRESENTATION AND STORAGE, FILM AND DIGITAL

The criteria for image storage are quite different for the two alternative mediums, so they will be treated separately in this chapter. The only time the two technologies come together is when the image is shot on film and then scanned into digital form. The separate film and digital versions are then stored accordingly.

Film

While the quality of the photographs themselves, be they colour transparencies or prints, is of paramount importance, the significance of their presentation cannot be overstated. An excellent set of photographs poorly presented to a busy editor probably stands the same chance of publication as an average set of photographs beautifully presented.
