Text Fields

When you are working on a document in Microsoft Word, you may often want to add an area at the bottom of the page that prints the current page number and total number of pages in that document; for example, “Page 1 of 47 Pages.” In order to do this, go to the footer, type in the word “Page,” click the Page Number button, type in the word “of,” click the Number of Pages button, and then finally type the word “Pages.” Each time you clicked one of those buttons, you were actually adding a text field to the footer. A text field is an automatic entry, a calculated entry, or an entry of information about the page, document, or creator.
