Types of Glue in Visio
Under Visio 5.0, 1D symbols glued to 2D symbols. 2D symbols do not glue to anything at all. Controls on 2D symbols could glue to other 2D symbols or 1D symbols if they were neither locked in X nor Y. Under Visio 2000, 2D symbols can now in fact glue to other 2D symbols. There are, however, restrictions, limitations, and conditions, just as in the fine print on the used car warranty. You will need to be very aware of how this works.
I'll return to the Visio 2000 glue mechanics in a moment. First, I'd like to set the stage for all this by explaining glue behavior under Visio 5.0. What you learn about Visio 5.0 glue behavior will carry forward to Visio 2000. We will then add Visio 2000's new capabilities to that.
