8.1. Meeting with the Client

When you show Claudia all the work you've done since the last time you met, she's positively thrilled.

"I love that I can manage colors and sizes so easily," she says. "Was that a difficult change to make?"

"No," you answer, "Once I had the administrative framework figured out, adding new screens wasn't hard at all."

"Good, because I need to ask you for a few more things," she says, and you both laugh. Isn't this how it always goes with clients? Of course!

"I need to be able to manage a handful of pages," Claudia says. "I don't need a full-fledged content management system, but I want to make changes to just a few pages without having to call you in all the time."

"I assume you're talking about the About Us, Privacy Policy, and Contact pages?"

"Yes, that's right. Just those three or four pages would do it."

"Not a problem. I've already been kicking around a few ideas for how something like that would work."

"Excellent. The other thing I need is a bit more complicated," Claudia admits. "I need a way to communicate with my customers over e-mail."

"Can you get more specific?"

"Of course," she says, pulling out some notes. "As you can see, I've given this some thought. I'd like it if visitors to my web site could subscribe to a newsletter. I'd like to have their e-mail addresses stored somewhere on the site. Then I'd like to be able to put together e-mail messages that go out to those folks."
