Hazard 3: Asbestos

In December 1996, Pinewood Studios (UK) and Paramount Pictures (UK) were fined £10,000 plus costs for exposing 100 actors and crew to potentially lethal asbestos dust. During the shoot, asbestos pipe insulation was unwittingly disturbed by members of the film crew at a disused electricity generating building. The case highlights the need for adequate risk assessments before any work is undertaken.
