Studios often have the expectation that their projects will run smoothly with no interruption until the project delivers. Sadly, the real world has a habit of interfering: new hardware, software updates, hardware failures, server crashes, or natural disasters such as hurricanes and earthquakes are rarely taken into account by the production schedule, but can seriously delay work if a plan is not in place to address the unexpected. Planning and regular maintenance are the key to being in control and to minimizing impacts on the schedule.
