The Structure of the Product Design Process

This chapter outlined the structure of the product design process. It defined design and briefly described how the design process has changed over time. We also discussed some important design paradigms learned as a result of design failures. The basics of design requirements were outlined, and finally, we provide a systematic, step-by-step analytical design procedure. We realize that we have condensed a significant amount of information in this chapter, and the reader is encouraged to consult books devoted completely to the process of design.
