Glossary
Every specialty creates its own jargon, verbal shortcuts to express precise situations quickly. Audio jargon can be confusing, particularly if you’re coming from the more visual world of film or video.
Jargon is also sometimes used to create an aura of mystery, keeping outsiders from knowing what’s going on. But that’s not what this book is about, so here’s a practical guide to what we audio engineers are talking about. If you don’t find a term here, check the index.
