Individual elements of a film can have very short lives. Camera shots, visual effects, and great edits might not be on the screen for more than a few seconds. But the mix extends through the whole movie. It’s one place where you can approach the project as a continuous whole.

A good mix can hide less-than-perfect elements and awkward edits. But great edits, even great performances, won’t survive a bad mix.
