Digital isn’t necessarily better than analog. But it’s a lot more practical for real-world production.

Analog isn’t necessarily better either. A system’s components and design are what makes the difference in its sound … not whether it uses analog or digital wiring.

Modern software squeezes a lot of good sound through very small digital pipes. This isn’t foolproof and comes with some costs. But compression is unavoidable these days, and can do a good job if you know how it works.
