What You Hope to Achieve at Pre-Production

When you reach pre-production, both the publisher and developer should come to an agreement as to the final goals of this stage, as every developer and publisher have a slightly different interpretation of what the final results should be. While some require a proof of concept and/or a prototype, others want to roll directly into production from the planning stages. Even the definition of prototype can differ, with some considering it a visually rough build to show how gameplay and design will feel, while others expect it to look and play exactly like a level from the final game.
