Looking Ahead

The goal of pre-production is to turn your high-concept doc into a production plan. There is a lot to do here, and very little time to do it in. To be able to complete everything necessary before you roll into production, you need to approach pre-production in just as organized a manner as you would any specific task. The first step is to split pre-pro into three different phases: the planning phase, the design phase, and the prototyping phase. While each of these stages might have some overlap, you should separate them out in order for the team to focus on one stage at a time. Trying to juggle all three will result in three incomplete phases.
