Pipelines

The pipeline is a process where an asset or element of the game moves from concept to completion and then into the game build through a series of steps where multiple team members each contribute a portion to the overall asset. This is by no means a new concept, it comes from Ford Motor Company’s assembly line techniques dating back to 1908. While the pipeline does still hold some similarities to Ford’s system for building the Model T, it has since evolved and been adapted to work within many different schools of software development techniques. While all of these different development styles can vary dramatically, they are all variations on the theme of a pipeline.
