Production

As the producer, you set the start date for production. During preproduction, this date inches closer and closer. If you are well prepared, the shooting period merely means shifting into a higher gear. If you are not prepared, you will experience problems that might be serious enough to force you to push back the start date.

The start of production is the moment when the ship has been constructed, the crew has been chosen, and the captain pulls up anchor and heads out to sea. The score has been written, the musicians are assembled, and the conductor raises the baton. The director will by this time know intuitively how to influence the creative drive of the production.
