Raising the Capital
If there is one role with which the producer is traditionally associated, it is the role of fund-raiser. The producer finds the money to fund the film or video. This role is paramount because money is the lifeblood of any project. In fact, without adequate financing, there is no project. However simple the production demands might seem, it is impossible to produce something for nothing. Even if you are a one-person crew shooting videotape, you still need to purchase tape stock and rent a camera and editing equipment to complete the project.
