5.1. About Estimates and Measures in Software Projects

In discussing the elusive nature of quality in Chapter 1 we mentioned that the reasons for elusiveness of quality in software are exacerbated, because the nature of software itself is effusive and not concrete. As a result, estimations and measurements in software projects are always fraught with uncertainties. That, however, does not preclude us from making attempts to get the measures right. Here we discuss different types of measures and estimates that play valuable roles in improving the quality of work taking place in practical projects.
