Chapter 4. System Development Models

4.1. Overview

In the last two chapters, we discussed systems and system models in general. In this chapter, we describe specific model notations, their definitions, and their rules and guidelines. Most development models have been extensively discussed in the literature; here, in this reference chapter, we want to assemble just the most important points. Whenever we add modeling aspects beyond the published literature, or deviate from common practice, we explain why we do so. Throughout this chapter, we cite references where more details and examples can be found.
