PROCESS CAPABILITY

Once our variable control charts are in statistical control for a certain variable as described in Chapters 6, 7, and 8, we can determine the process capability of our product for that variable. Most variable characteristics of a product behave like a normal distribution. There might be some variable characteristics of a product that might show skewed, bimodal, or some other nonnormal distribution behavior. However, nonnormal distribution behaviors for a variable are very rare in high-volume production.
