Rename the Statistics and Variables

While it’s easy to build a table that displays the required results, the trick is to make it look nice. PROC TABULATE is a powerful tool, but it lacks a sense of aesthetics. Often you will need to get creative with your syntax to design a more elegant table.
For example, in Output 14.3, you can see that while this table does show the N and MEAN by gender for each of the row variables, it looks pretty ugly. It turns out that the N in each column is the same for every row, so there is a lot of repetitive information in the table.
