Match the Table Design to Predefined Specifications
Sometimes the end user
of your tables has a definite format in mind, and no matter how hard
it is to create, they refuse to be flexible. This example, and the
others that follow, shows ways to create seemingly impossible tables.
For example, suppose
your boss wants a table like the one in the sketch here. Instead of
having a row heading for the N statistic, the table uses a column
header in the format N=xx. It’s easy to put an N in the column
header, but how do you attach the value (number of observations)?
