Mike Collins started out in music back in 1965 as a guitarist in the R & B group ‘The Atlantics’ playing mostly Stax and Motown material – with a sprinkling of blues and rock‘n’roll. During the last year of that decade, a move from his home town (Burnley in Lancashire) to Manchester to manage a record shop saw the start of a new career as a club DJ – working at the Blue Note playing soul music and at the Magic Village playing a mix of blues and progressive rock.
