Setting Up Your MIDI Studio

Before you can record any MIDI data, you’ll need to physically attach your external MIDI device(s) to your system’s MIDI interface. (Refer to the documentation that came with your MIDI gear for more information.) Let’s assume you’ve physically connected your MIDI gear in a traditional configuration—in other words, you’ve connected the output of your MIDI interface to the MIDI input of your device and then connected the MIDI output (not the Thru) of your device into an input on your MIDI interface. Once that’s done, you’ll need to set up Pro Tools to recognize that connection.
