3. Working with Sessions
When you work with Pro Tools, you start by creating a session. Each session is represented by a file with a .ptf (Pro Tools File) extension. Session files are documents that store information about your work in Pro Tools, but they do not contain any media themselves. Instead, session files refer to other elements of a session, such as audio files and video files.
This chapter shows you how to create new sessions, how to choose session parameters for recording audio, how to back up your work, and how to create custom templates for your sessions.
Using the Quick Start Dialog
When you first launch Pro Tools, it opens a Quick Start dialog that you can use to create or open sessions (Figure 3.1).
