2. The Pro Tools Workspace

This chapter takes you on a tour of the Pro Tools workspace and shows you some ways to customize its appearance.

The two main Pro Tools windows show tracks in a session in complementary ways:

• The Edit window displays tracks on a timeline, where you can edit and arrange media.

• The Mix window displays tracks as mixer channel strips, where you can set signal routing and adjust mixing controls.

The MIDI Editor and Score Editor windows offer enhanced editing capabilities:

• MIDI Editor windows let you edit one or more tracks of MIDI data in both piano roll and notation views.

• The Score Editor window lets you edit one or more tracks of MIDI notes as music notation in full score view.
