7 The Mix Window

To a certain extent, the Mix window is an alternative view of the same material found in the Edit window. In fact, you can view many track parameters in both the Mix window and the Edit window, including comments, track I/O, inserts, sends, and more. The optional views are available from the View > Edit/Mix Window submenus. However, it’s usually more convenient to deal with audio and MIDI mixing via the familiar metaphor of a conventional mixing board. Therefore, in the Mix window, the same tracks whose contents appear as horizontal strips in the Edit window are shown as vertical mixer strips, with the familiar volume faders, level meters, pan controls, effects sections, and sends.
