This chapter sets out a working definition for "performance management" and then begins to detail how we can build on the tools that have been developed in earlier chapters to deliver an end-to-end system for business performance management. Much like our discussion of KPIs, this chapter is not intended to be an exhaustive discussion of performance management. Rather, it is intended to provide you with an introduction to the topic and to provide practical examples that can serve as a template for how you can effectively manage business performance by leveraging the Microsoft platform.
