Claims-Based and Federated Authentication

SharePoint 2010 introduced a new Claims-Based-Authentication (CBA) method for authenticating users. SharePoint 2013 continues use of CBA as the now only mechanism for authenticating users.

CBA addresses the need of the industry to identify users of a system via claims, rather than via username and password. In this chapter, I shall detail Digital Identity and open standards for identifying users in electronic systems, such as SharePoint.
