Sidestepping Quagmires

Worst practices don’t seem that way at first. We all try to do the best we can. It is only in retrospect we realize our mistakes and try to learn from them. At first, we see what appear to be structured, pragmatic approaches to implementing SharePoint. It is only when we look back do we see that they are based on a natural misunderstanding of the nature of SharePoint. In this section I will describe the worst of these practices and the alternative best practices. I’m describing the worst practices as quagmires because there are a number of characteristics of real quagmires that are the same as the metaphorical SharePoint quagmires I describe here. They are detailed here so you can spot them and avoid them.
