The worst practice in relation to governance is to see SharePoint as either purely owned by the business or purely owned by IT. In both cases, SharePoint is missing vital input into its governance. Unless there are regular meetings between the content and the infrastructure owners, SharePoint as a platform will suffer. Without either, SharePoint can’t grow and develop. The users provide the change and growth to the content and structure. IT provides the capacity and resources to support that change and growth. The two are interdependent. This must be clear to the owners of SharePoint and they must communicate.
