Backup of the File System

As Microsoft points out in TechNet, the following components of your farm are not backed up because they are stored on web servers. A file level backup will capture them.

  • Application pool account passwords
  • HTTP compression settings
  • Time-out settings
  • Custom Internet Server Application Programming Interface (ISAPI) filters
  • Computer domain membership
  • Internet Protocol Security (IPsec) settings
  • Network Load Balancing settings
  • Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificates
  • Dedicated IP address settings
