Backup of the File System
As Microsoft points out in TechNet, the following components of your farm are not backed up because they are stored on web servers. A file level backup will capture them.
- Application pool account passwords
- HTTP compression settings
- Time-out settings
- Custom Internet Server Application Programming Interface (ISAPI) filters
- Computer domain membership
- Internet Protocol Security (IPsec) settings
- Network Load Balancing settings
- Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) certificates
- Dedicated IP address settings
