Web Content Management came about with SharePoint 2007. What the industry calls WCM, Microsoft refers to as publishing features, in the SharePoint platform. The publishing infrastructure in SharePoint allows creation of public facing web sites, built upon the content management features of SharePoint. The major capabilities of any good WCM system include the following:
