Summary

In this chapter, we covered a variety of business intelligence topics. Understanding the importance of BI in any modern data-centric organization, and the vast capabilities of BI that SharePoint 2010 provides, I aimed to cover the major topics at a high level.

PerformancePoint Service and the Dashboard Designer are a large and new topic in SharePoint 2010. I demonstrated how to couple PPS 2010 to an OLAP cube in SQL Server Analysis to create an appealing data dashboard in SharePoint 2010, with no code whatsoever.

Also in this chapter, I introduced the reader to Business Connectivity Services and I demonstrated how to create external content types and external lists that host their data in a SQL store.
