Chapter 26. Disaster Recovery

Disaster recovery provides continuity of operations in the event of total loss of a site, which may be the result of a natural disaster, such as a hurricane, fire, or flood; terrorism; disruption to the power supply; an industrial dispute; or any other event that might affect the primary data center. A disaster recovery plan will therefore involve at least one secondary site that operations can be transferred to in the event of the loss of the primary site; this process is known as a failover.
