Conclusion

Technology is advancing at such a rapid rate that it is outpacing our ability to restrict its possible abuses. The devices described in this chapter provide examples of the many ways that people and items can be tracked and exposed. Far too often individuals are unable to protect themselves from exposure to these devices. As shown in the preceding section, A Legal View of New Technology, the government is willing to use new technology against its citizens until they are constrained by the court system. The problem is that the courts are typically silent unless someone is smart enough and brave enough to challenge the government.
