When browsing the World Wide Web, users make mental notes about each Web site visit, which collectively helps them determine whether a site should be trusted. One of these notes may be whether a site displays a seal from a privacy-certification program. Subscribing to a certification program is one way to get potential customers to feel better about buying products from a Web site.
