Collection of Data

When collecting data from users or computers, only collect the information that is necessary to perform the business function for which it is being collected. When sharing the data, only share the information that is needed by the third party. Use a lesser granularity where possible. For example, if a user's location information is needed, only provide the city name if that is all that is needed, and not the user's entire address.
