Defining Baseline Security Standards

Before you start playing on the Internet, take some time to follow some simple rules to protect yourself. Companies that set up an Internet presence usually take the time to secure each system that will be made available to the public. You need to do the same. Spend the initial time up front to follow a specific set of security procedures to get your system to a level of security with which you are comfortable. You will save yourself the grief of being hacked. Like the precautions you take when building a house, such as installing locks on all doors and windows, installing an alarm, and building a fence, you need the same type of baseline security measures in place before moving into cyberspace.
