Future Trends

11.1 Introduction

Although the principles of transaction processing change very slowly, the technology that implements those principles changes all the time. Some of these changes involve repackaging well-known mechanisms to fit into new software architectures. For example, over the years we have seen transactional RPC appear in TP monitors, client-server database systems, object request brokers, application servers, and web services.
